The COSTA NOVA Industria Academy took on a fundamental role in 2024 in addressing the need to develop both technical and behavioral skills among newly hired employees, as well as those who, through their long tenure in the company, tacitly hold Grestel’s heritage in their hands. To this end, we created a pool of internal trainers.

Relying on internal training allows know-how – often concentrated in specific areas and individuals – to be shared in a practical way, tailored to the reality of each employee. We have therefore worked to ensure the preservation of the company’s heritage and the accumulated knowledge of 27 years of Grestel.

In addition, the wide range of manual techniques that are part of our process (molding, sponging, trimming, glazing) is not taught in schools, yet it is essential for retaining and expanding a centuries-old, labor-intensive industry. As such, we have also taken on an active role in the preservation and sustainable development of the ceramics industry.

Investing in talent, preserving heritage

Our internal training programs develop technical skills and essential abilities to ensure the transfer of know-how and the sustainability of our work processes.

Trainer Certification

We believe that knowledge grows when it is shared. Through our COSTA NOVA Academy, we’ve created a network of internal trainers because we know that talent and expertise have the greatest impact when they are shared with others.
This initiative allows know-how, often concentrated in specific areas, to be passed on in a practical and hands-on way, tailored to the everyday reality of each team member.

Completion of Academic Pathways

At the end of 2022, a partnership was established with AIDA’s Qualifica Centre with the aim of supporting employees who had not completed the 12th grade in finishing a level of education (9th and 12th grade) through the Recognition, Validation and Certification of Competencies (RVCC) process. Within the scope of this collaboration with AIDA, it was also possible to carry out a Professional RVCC process to certify employees in the areas of Logistics and Quality.
This partnership arose from the need to respond to our teams’ aspirations for higher educational qualifications and improved skills, based on a commitment to the development and enhancement of human resources. Several employees enrolled in this process, motivated to improve their qualification levels, and now see their personal and professional competencies formally recognized, thereby increasing their level of education.

Portuguese Language Classes for Foreigners

The Portuguese classes for foreigners, held twice a week at Grestel’s facilities since September 2024.
These classes have helped our employees communicate more effectively with colleagues and managers, fostering a more integrated and collaborative work environment, as well as helping them to better integrate into the community they now belong to.
This initiative by the COSTA NOVA Industria Academy is also a space for cultural exchange, where stories and experiences intersect, strengthening diversity and a sense of belonging.

As nossas formações internas promovem competências técnicas e habilidades essenciais, garantindo a transmissão do know-how e a sustentabilidade dos nossos processos de trabalho.
We are increasingly aware that the Academy is a fundamental tool to align all stakeholders with the Group’s objectives, mission and culture. By investing in training, we promote not only process efficiency and productivity but also the clarification and definition of roles, employee motivation and satisfaction as well as the capacity to adapt in a constantly changing environment. This reality reinforces the ongoing need for the development of both technical skills (hard skills) and behavioral skills (soft skills).
