The Ecogres® project won the National Sustainability Award in the Circular Economy category, standing out among numerous candidates.
The award ceremony took place on April 8 at the Pestana Cidadela in Cascais, with Grestel represented by Marketing Director Liliana Cachim, who accepted the award. The National Sustainability Award is an initiative of Jornal de Negócios, under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic.
This award recognizes companies and organizations that excel in sustainability performance and best practices across three main areas: environmental, social, and governance (ESG). Ecogres® was honored in the Circular Economy category.
Eligible initiatives for this category included “projects, services, and products that drive innovation in design, production, distribution, and consumption through the application of circular economy principles across a product’s lifecycle, promoting collection, reuse, repair/upgrading, renewal, recycling, and repurposing.”
The jury for this category was chaired by Helena Pereira (President of the Foundation for Science and Technology) and included prominent figures from the national economy such as António Nogueira Leite (Economist), Isabel Furtado (Chair of COTEC Portugal), Luís Filipe Castro Henriques (President of AICEP), and Paulo Lemos (former Secretary of State for the Environment), among others.
Liliana Cachim highlighted the significance of this recognition, noting that Grestel works “daily, project by project, with a strong focus on circularity and sustainability. From the creation of Ecogres, aimed at leading change in tabletop ceramics, to ecodesign and social, environmental, and energy-efficiency practices, everyone in the company is committed to contributing to a more sustainable ceramics industry.”
